I’m 65 and had a stroke about 17 years ago which left my right side extremely weak and I easily fatigue. I travel a couple of times a year to Disney World and clock about 13 miles of walking each day for about 6 days. I always rented a scooter and they were OK but always in a different state of disrepair.
Another activity we enjoy is going on cruises. I rented a scooter once and never again. It was too large to easily fit in the cabin and if it did fit, we couldn’t get out. Walking around the ship was slow going for me without a scooter, but manageable. Also, when we went on shore excursions that involved a lot of walking, my lack of speed and my fatigue, made it less than enjoyable.
I always had in the back of my mind getting a scooter of my own. I did a lot of investigation into various scooters and decided on the SmartScoot. My primary considerations were: weight, size, turning radius, ease of folding, and battery life. The SmartScoot met my requirements and exceeded my expectations in all areas.
Prior to my stroke, I raced cars for 20 years. Besides being the driver, I was involved in maintenance and engineering. Without a doubt, the SmartScoot is a quality machine. The chrome and powder coating are flawless. The design is very well thought out. Even the welds are perfect and the design of the folding mechanism and the extending wheels is fantastic.
I can’t wait to try it out on our next airline/cruise trip.
